Suws-Future Plans
& Road Map

Sudipta Banerjee, Secretary

SUWS is considered to be a champion of the poor in the rural sector and has taken microfinance to great heights. The momentum set forth through its 170 branches would continue unabated.   However, a lot has to be done to ameliorate the sufferings of the rural poor. Food, clothing, and shelter for all would be the buzzword for all the employees of SUWS.

The year 2014 was a landmark as it witnessed our organising a heart touching programme on 16th July’ 2014 primarily to reach out to the physically and mentally retarded children, and also to felicitate the students at the village level who are meritorious but have not been recognised by any institution. The students felicitated were in fact the children of the poor SHGs.

The deliberations and participation of the Assistant secretary of Narendrapur Ramkrishna Mission, the principal of Calcutta Deaf and Dumb school, Manicktala, the principal of Blind boys academy Narendrapur, and the secretary of the institute of mentally retarded at Kankurgachi were note worthy.
Committing to stand by our side and pursue the goal of serving the mankind was the eminent social work Shri D.K. Sharaf, who is also incidentally the founder of Anandaloke group of Hospitals that also have provisions for providing healing touch to the poor and destitute.

The road map ahead is a rather ambitious one as we are on our way in conducting developmental and educational programmes throughout the year across the State.

In a well planned move, in view of the economic measures initiated in the country by the new regime, and consequent to the circular issued by Reserve Bank of India in November’ 2014, SUWS prudently has put forth its application for setting up of a small Bank in the last week of Jan’2015.

RBI after the initial screening has shortlisted 72 applicants for consideration subject to compliance of the stipulations and SUWS is one of the enlistments in the list of 72 applicants initially received at RBI for consideration. The notifications of RBI released in this connection is embodied below.
